Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or during vehicle pickup. This document outlines essential terms, conditions, insurance provisions, applicable charges, and your responsibilities associated with the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
2. Rental Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Alfreton, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle category, with possible extra fees for drivers under 25. A valid, full driving license suitable for the vehicle type is required, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. You will need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements may also be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Alfreton office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be filled out and signed by both parties. Please return the vehicle in the same condition as when it was collected, except for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur charges. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at the start of the rental; additional refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns could result in extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect to be late. You will be held accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental, along with an administrative fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options are available to help minimize your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be accountable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless covered by extra insurance. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Usage
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, off-roading, or any activities deemed hazardous. Transporting dangerous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose and within the specified passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Alfreton is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, nor for any loss of profits, data, or business that may result from using our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
Local Law Applicability
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in English and Welsh courts.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
